क्या मैं भी परीशानि-ए-ख़ातिर से क़रीं था।
आँखें तो कहीं थीं दिलेग़मदीदः कहीं था।
Had I also reached the peak of heart's plight.
Eyes were elsewhere, sad heart had you in sight.
किस रात नज़र की है सू-ए-चश्म के अंजुम।
आँखों के तले अपने तो वो माहजबीं था।
When did I look towards stars on any night.
Only that moon face was always in my sight.
आया तो सही वो कोई दम के लिए लेकिन
होंटों पे मिरे जब नफ़से बाज़पसींं था।
Oh yes she came to me for a while, but
On my lips were then last breaths alright.
नाम आज कोई याँ नहीं लेता है उन्हों का।
जिन लोगों के कल मुल्क यह सब ज़ेरेनगीं था।
Today no one utters the name of those.
The people who had this nation under might.
मस्जिद में इमाम आ के हुआ जाने कहाँ से।
कल तक तो यही मीर ख़राबात नशीं था।
From where did he become priest at the mosque.
Not long ago only tavern was Mir's site.
