लैलाएँ हैं ख़मोश दिवाने किधर गए
Why's wind thid kind, why in dunes silence to find?
Why lovers are silent, where are men O' fanatic heart?
उजड़े पड़े हैं दश्त ग़ज़ालों पे क्या बनी
सूने हैं कोहसार दिवाने किधर गए
Deserted is the land, where are deers O friend?
Hills are alone, where have gone fanatic heart?
वो हिज्र में विसाल की उम्मीद क्या हुई
वो रंज में ख़ुशी के बहाने किधर गए
Where is meeting hope, in the departure to cope?
Where are excuses of joy, for sad times to cart?
दिन रात मय-कदे में गुज़रती थी ज़िंदगी
'अख़्तर' वो बे-ख़ुदी के ज़माने किधर गए
