O God ! Don't give godliness so mean.
That but for the self, nothing is seen.
ख़ता-वार समझेगी दुनिया तुझे ।
अब इतनी ज़ियादा सफ़ाई न दे ।
World will think you are at fault.
Now don't try to come so clean
ग़ुलामी को बरकत समझने लगें।
असीरों को ऐसी रिहाई न दे ।
Thinking that captivity was bliss.
Release not prisoners off the sheen.
मुझे ऐसी जन्नत नहीं है चाहिए।
जहाँ से मदीना दिखाई न दे।
I want no heaven of that sort.
Wherefrom Madeena can't be seen.
मुझे अपनी चादर में है यूँ ढाँप लो।
ज़मीं आसमाँ कुछ दिखाई न दे।
Thus conceal me in your sheet.
Neither earth nor sky can be seen.
हँसो आज इतना कि इस शोर में।
सदा सिसकियों की सुनाई न दे।
Laugh so much that in it's din.
Can't hear sigh sound in between.
ख़ुदा ऐसे एहसास का नाम है।
रहे सामने और दिखाई न दे।
God is name of such a feeling.
Which confronts but can't be seen.
