क़फ़स क्या हल्का हाए दाम क्या रंजे असीरी क्या?
चमन पर मिट गया जो हर तरह आज़ाद होता है।
The prison, knots of net and pain of being a captive.
One who dies for the garden, is free ever a captive.
क्या मिरे हाल पर सचमुच उन्हें ग़म था क़ासिद?
तूने देखा था सितारा सर ए मिज़गाँ कोई।
Was she sad o messenger, going through my tale?
You saw tear in her eyes going through my mail.
क्या बहार-ए-नक़्श-ए-पा है ऐ नवाज़-ए-आशिक़ी।
लुत्फ़ सर रखने में क्या, सर रख के मर जाने में है।
What a beautiful footprint, worthy of a lover to pray !
Charm is not in bowing the head but going the final way.
