कहा ''लड़ाते हो क्यूँ हम से ग़ैर को हमदम''
कहा कि ''तुम भी तो हम से निगह लड़ाते हो''
When I asked why I was set against rival sweetheart?
She told me that my eyes were set against her own.
कहा जो हाल-ए-दिल अपना तो उस ने हँस हँस कर
कहा ''ग़लत है ये बातें जो तुम बनाते हो''
When I laughed and told about state of my heart.
She said that it was a pack of lies, I had blown.
कहा ''जताते हो क्यूँ हम से रोज़ नाज़-ओ-अदा''
कहा कि ''तुम भी तो चाहत हमें जताते हो''
When I asked why daily do you show your styles?
She told it was because I claimed, she was my own.
कहा कि ''अर्ज़ करें हम पे जो गुज़रता है?''
कहा ''ख़बर है हमें क्यूँ ज़बाँ पे लाते हो''
When I asked if I could tell what had befallen me.
She told she was aware, no need to spell on own.
कहा कि ''रूठे हो क्यूँ हम से क्या सबब इस का''
कहा ''सबब है यही तुम जो दिल छुपाते हो''
When I asked why were you angry with me?
She said it was simple, my heart wasn't shown.
कहा कि ''हम नहीं आने के याँ'' तो उस ने 'नज़ीर'
कहा कि ''सोचो तो क्या आप से तुम आते हो
When I said 'Nazeer'! I would not be back again.
She told me, did I think, I had come on my own.
