क्यूँ है ऐसा उदास क्या जाने
God knows what's wrong with the heart.
Why is it so sad on it's part?
अपने ग़म में भी उस को सरफ़ा है
न खिला जाने वो न खा जाने
He is aware even in his grief .
Neither can feed nor eat on his part.
इस तजाहुल का क्या ठिकाना है
जान कर जो न मुद्दआ' जाने
What's the extent of this neglect?
She knows but won't know on her part.
कह दिया मैं ने राज़-ए-दिल अपना
उस को तुम जानो या ख़ुदा जाने
Either you know or the God.
I have told secrets of my heart.
क्या ग़रज़ क्यूँ इधर तवज्जोह हो
हाल-ए-दिल आप की बला जाने
Why should she care for me any way?
This is calamity of my heart.
जानते जानते ही जानेगा
मुझ में क्या है अभी वो क्या जाने
Slowly slowly will she know.
What's in me is still unknown to her heart
क्या हम उस बद-गुमाँ से बात करें
जो सताइश को भी गिला जाने
Why should I talk with one who'd doubt?
Who thinks praise as lament on her part.
तुम न पाओगे सादा-दिल मुझ सा
जो तग़ाफ़ुल को भी हया जाने
You won't get any other soft heart.
Who takes neglect for shame on your part.
है अबस जुर्म-ए-इश्क़ पर इल्ज़ाम
जब ख़ता-वार भी ख़ता जाने
It's a blame only on crime named love.
When perpreter of crime also knows his part.
नहीं कोताह दामन-ए-उम्मीद
आगे अब दस्त-ए-ना-रसा जाने
Hem of hope isn't short indeed.
Let her know the hand that 'll part.
जो हो अच्छा हज़ार अच्छों का
वाइ'ज़ उस बुत को तू बुरा जाने
One who is the good one in thousands.
O priest! You call that idol bad on your part.
की मिरी क़द्र मिस्ल-ए-शाह-ए-दकन
किसी नव्वाब ने न राजा ने
None greeted me like the deccan king.
Neither a nawaab nor a king on his part.
उस से उट्ठेगी क्या मुसीबत-ए-इश्क़
इब्तिदा को जो इंतिहा जाने
How will she deal with the troubles of love?
Who thinks it's start as end on her part.
'दाग़' से कह दो अब न घबराओ
काम अपना बना हुआ जाने
Tell 'Daagh' not to worry anymore.
His work is anyway done on her part.
